NEW YORK (AP) — Broadway audiences will soon be hearing the hit songs of Alicia Keys — not far from where the multiple-Grammy-winner grew up. “Hell's Kitchen,” the semi-autobiographical musical by the singer-songwriter, is making the move uptown from off-Broadway to the Shubert Theatre this spring. The musical features Keys’ best-known hits: “Fallin’,” “No One,” “Girl on Fire,” “If I Ain’t Got You,” and, of course, “Empire State of Mind,” as well as four new songs. “Hell's Kitchen,” in a way, is a full-circle moment for the Keys' family. In 2011, she was a co-producer of the Broadway play “Stick Fly,” for which she supplied some music.

NEW YORK (AP) — Everything from rap to yacht rock, country and alt-rock are represented among the nominees for the 2024 Songwriters Hall of Fame, with nods for Public Enemy, Steely Dan, Bryan Adams, George Clinton, Tracy Chapman, R.E.M., Blondie, Heart and The Doobie Brothers. Adams, R.E.M., Blondie, The Doobie Brothers and Heart were also nominated last year but didn't make the final cut. The Songwriters Hall of Fame was established in 1969 to honor those creating the popular music. Ukraine posted a video of new US-supplied missiles in action over Neil Diamond's hit "Hello." The new missiles reportedly targeted Russian airfields and took out multiple enemy helicopters. Insider's Jake Epstein reported that Ukraine struck Russian airfields and took out enemy helicopters with their new ATACMS. Ukraine also posted a video of ATACMS being fired at Russians on Telegram. Dear listeners,Over the weekend, I spent some time at the WFMU Record and CD Fair — a New York institution returning in person for the first time since 2019. A fund-raiser for the great, listener-supported radio station, this year’s Record Fair featured over 100 dealers hawking vinyl and other musical sundries at the Knockdown Center in Queens. That lingering pang in my shoulder, though, meant I left with a pretty decent record haul — which I used to create today’s playlist. Some people go to record fairs ready to drop big bucks on rare finds and coveted collectibles. When I added a $3 copy of Waylon Jennings’s “Greatest Hits” to my pile, I thought I’d checked the condition of the LP.

LONDON, Oct 25 (Reuters) - WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury is swapping his boxing gloves for a microphone with the release of his debut single, a remake of Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline", for charity. The 34-year-old British boxer, who has previously sung for crowds at matches as well as dueted with Robbie Williams, will put out the track, a crowd favourite at sporting events, on Nov. 11 in aid of men’s mental health charity Talk Club. "'Sweet Caroline' is a record I’ve always loved, and I’m excited to record and release it," Fury said in a statement, noting the single will come out just in time for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. But he later struggled with mental health and substance abuse which derailed his career. He fought back and has been vocal about mental health awareness.
